In which our hero talks nonsense about Infernal Love by Therapy?
I remember going to sixth form college in September 1995, I left less than a year later with no extra qualifications but a lasting love for this band that the were on the shirts of the tough boys in the year above...Therapy?
On the podcast today I speak about the 5th album from Northern Ireland band Therapy? and their follow up to the massive Troublegum....1995's Infernal Love
I'll be getting into my thoughts on the record as it approaches it's 30th anniversary, see how it stands against the other Therapy? albums and hear some thoughts from the band that I found kicking around the world wide web
Finally I'll go through a few categories to try and give it a "proper review", see where I left it in my "Greatest Albums of All Time Ever" list and choose the best track on the album

A Few Bits and Pieces from The Podcast
On finding Therapy?……
I remember going to sixth form college in September 1995, I left less than a year later with no extra qualifications but a lasting love for this band that the were on the shirts of the tough boys in the year above...Therapy? obviously Troublegum had been massive and Infernal Love was released that summer and by the time christmas came around I had both albums ordered through Skeltons which was this little place in town that sold fridges and TVs and stocked a few CDs but would order in anything you wanted as long as you could spell it properly.
On the comparison with Troublegum….
I sometimes wonder if I'd been into Therapy? earlier whether I'd love this record as much as I do, it seemed to not really go over at the time as I remember but maybe because I got both albums really close to each other I was just enjoying all the Therapy....like nowadays if you find a band then it's just all there waiting for you so maybe I was just grateful to have more Therapy... but there was definitely an air of disappointment that this wasn't Troublegum 2.
On the Things I Wish I’d Written…
As with every Therapy album, the drums are amazing, whoever’s playing them... especially on the opening track Epilepsy, I also love the riff that just feels a bit off and your never sure where its going. I love the darkness of the lyrics all across the record but I especially love the lyric in Misery "You can talk about the things, that you say you've left behind//while you lead me down dark alleys in the ghettos of your mind" and then the way he spits the "Fuck You waste my time" line .... so much good stuff on here
On Dropping Out and Coming Back….
Therapy were one of those bands that once it got to about 2004 and was travelling the world and getting married and having kids, I kind of struggled to keep up with so I think the last time I saw them was on the tour for Suicide Pact: You First and the last album I bought was Shameless before I dropped out.
Obviously I continued listening to the records I knew but it wasn't until 2020 when I looked on Apple Music and there was like 6 or 8 new to me albums and I just dived in and it was like finding a new band all over again...and I have a real soft spot for 2018s Cleave and 2023s Hard Cold Fire
Obviously there’s more on the podcast so please give it a spin and if you have any thoughts about the album or Therapy? in general just leave a comment and we’ll have a chat!
